  • AAPI stands for Asian American and Pacific Islander.
    AANHPI stands for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander.

    Both terms refer to the diverse communities of people with roots in East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Pacific Islands, and Native Hawaiian cultures. AANHPI is often used to more intentionally and respectfully include Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander identities, which have their own distinct histories and cultures.

    You may see us use both terms—our goal is to be inclusive, accurate, and mindful of the communities we serve.
